Metallurgical Slag Recovery

Slag combines high abrasion with tramp metal and occasional uncrushable inclusions. The circuit therefore starts with a hydraulic-protected jaw, recovers metal at every stage, and uses vertical shaft crushing to liberate steel trapped in the slag matrix before final screening. The output is a metallic concentrate and a slag aggregate for road base or cement blending.

Design notes

Hydraulic protection

PEY jaw crushers relieve pressure instantly when an uncrushable block enters the chamber and reset automatically, which protects the frame and the drive train.

Metal recovery at each stage

Coarse iron is recovered after the primary, fine iron after liberation; recovery rate depends on the slag source and the liberation size.

Abrasion management

Slag is highly abrasive; liner material and change-out intervals are specified against the measured abrasion index of the source slag.

Product routes

The slag fraction is used as road-base aggregate or as a cement blending component, subject to the free-lime and stability limits that apply locally.
